Poor syntax turns me off.

Now who said you could end a sentence with a preposition?

  1. Grandpa Says:

A preposition? “Off” in this case is an adjective, as in “The ignition is either off or on,” following a linking verb. Think: “Such impertinence turns me red.” Actually, the adjective modifies the pronoun “me.”

  2. Bear Says:

An adjective? Grandpa, I believe “off” is an adverb, as in “Don’t fall off”. An adverb meaning away from the place/position in question. Poor syntax turns me away.
